ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I produce, direct and write short stop motion films and short films for television broadcast, Gallery exhibitions and events. I have created content for institutions, private companies and individuals ranging from BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Channel 4 and the BFI, as well music videos for artists like Kathryn Williams and Richard Dawson.

I recently completed a BFI funded stop motion animated short which is currently on the festival circuit. I have a committed diversity agenda and have introduced a tight carbon reduction plan into the manufacturing process. With this project I am working closely with the BFI Network in the North east as well as working with a producer from families content in the BBC.

I have also worked on award winning community animation projects, co creating film and animation pieces with groups diverse in age and ability, encouraging the telling of unheard stories and the collection of marginalised histories. Presently I am working with the Comfrey project in Gateshead helping people with refugee status tell their stories through film.

Community animation projects have been commissioned by the Anne Frank Trust, BALTIC, GemArts, Newcastle University, The NHS Trust, Tyne and Wear Museums, the TATE and Equal Arts, amongst other arts organisations.

Recently, I have been invited to curate stop motion animation for festivals and to judge in festival competitions.
